Damascus, Mar. 1 (SANA) – Syrian Transport Minister Yarub Badr discussed Sunday with Cyprus’ Chargé d’Affaires in Damascus, Michalis Hadjikyrou, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the transport sector.

Talks held at the ministry’s headquarters focused on activating the 2007 Syria-Cyprus search and rescue agreement, which covers multiple transport-related sectors under the ministry’s framework.

The meeting also addressed interest from Cypriot companies in participating in road infrastructure projects in Syria. Minister Badr welcomed the prospect, noting that related projects will be announced soon.

During the discussions, Badr received an official invitation to attend a search and rescue event scheduled to take place in Cyprus on March 13.

The talks follow earlier discussions last month between Syria’s Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management and the Cypriot diplomatic mission on strengthening regional disaster response and emergency preparedness cooperation.
