Berlin, Jan. 17 (SANA) Syrian Minister of Agriculture Amjad Badr held Saturday a series of high-level meetings in Berlin on the sidelines of the 2026 Global Forum for Food and Agriculture, focusing on food security and international cooperation in the agricultural sector.
During the forum, Badr met with Beth Bechdol, Deputy Director-General of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The discussions centered on strengthening cooperation between Syria and the FAO, particularly in the areas of food security, agricultural resilience, and support for Syria’s farming sector amid ongoing economic and climate-related challenges.
Badr also held talks with Ukrainian Minister of Economy and Agriculture Oleksii Sobolev, where the two officials explored prospects for bilateral cooperation in agriculture.
The meetings took place as part of the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture, an annual international gathering that brings together policymakers, international organizations, and industry leaders to address global food security, sustainability, and agricultural development.
