Economy Minister: Liberation Day a milestone in economic recovery

Damascus, Dec. 8 (SANA) Syria’s Minister of Economy and Industry, Mohammad Nidal al‑Shaar, said on Monday that Liberation Day is a key national occasion to honor the sacrifices of Syrians and reaffirm the country’s commitment to sovereignty and stability.

Al‑Shaar told SANA that the anniversary reflects a strong public determination to build a future based on independence and sustainable development. He noted that Syria retains the fundamentals needed to restore its regional economic standing.

He added that the government is prioritizing the rehabilitation of damaged economic infrastructure, revitalization of production, and improvement of the investment climate to encourage the return of capital and skilled professionals. The minister also emphasized the importance of expanding public‑private partnerships to generate employment and support growth.

Al‑Shaar stressed that strengthening national institutions and updating economic policies to meet current needs remain central to the government’s agenda. He said the ministry is aligning its plans with sustainable development goals to enhance the economy’s capacity for recovery.

Concluding his remarks, the minister highlighted the resilience of Syrians as a driving force behind the country’s reconstruction efforts. He noted that the government has adopted a free‑market approach aimed at reintegrating Syria into the global economy and attracting investment for reconstruction.
