Jordan’s Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sami Smeirat reaffirmed Saturday his country’s support for Syrian-led reconstruction efforts, noting that the Syrian-Jordanian Communications and Technology Forum, held in Damascus Friday, signals Jordan’s political openness toward Syria.
Speaking to Al-Mamlaka TV , Smeirat said that Jordan and Syria agreed to hold the forum to provide Jordanian private enterprises access to opportunities in the fields of telecommunications, information technology and digital transformation in Syria.
Smeirat pointed out that several plans are already underway, including providing Syria with high-capacity internet services through the Port of Aqaba, as well as introducing financial technologies, with some Jordanian companies beginning to form partnerships with Syrian counterparts to advance this sector.
