Syrian Energy Minister Discusses Cooperation with U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy

Syrian Minister of Energy Mohammad al-Bashir held talks with U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy James Danly on the sidelines of ADIPEC 2025 in Abu Dhabi to discuss U.S. support for Syria’s energy sector recovery.

According to a statement released by the Syrian Ministry of Energy on its Telegram channel, the officials discussed the challenges facing Syria’s energy sector and reviewed available opportunities to develop the country’s energy infrastructure. The talks also addressed technical cooperation and the exchange of expertise in the fields of electricity, oil, gas, and renewable energy, the statement said.

On Monday, Minister al-Bashir held a series of meetings with representatives from leading global energy firms: Chevron, TotalEnergies, Siemens, and the Saudi Energy Company to explore cooperation in oil, gas, electricity, and renewable energy projects.

Syria’s energy infrastructure has been severely damaged by years of conflict. Production has declined sharply, power outages are frequent, and investment has fallen, underscoring the need for international technical and financial support.

The meetings form part of Syria’s national strategy to rebuild energy production, attract foreign investment, modernize infrastructure, and expand renewable energy as key pillars of the country’s economic recovery.
