Syrian Chambers of Commerce, South Korean Ambassador Discuss Boosting Joint Projects

President of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce Alaa Al-Ali discussed on Tuesday with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Syria, Gu-Seok Jeon, ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of investment and economy and to enhance partnerships between the public and private sectors in both countries.

The meeting highlighted the importance of organizing economic forums bringing together businesspeople from both nations. Such gatherings, participants said, play a key role in building bridges of communication, exchanging expertise, and exploring opportunities for cooperation in industrial cities and free zones, as well as in promoting trade exchange and facilitating the movement of goods and services.

Al-Ali emphasized the importance of expanding prospects for trade and industrial cooperation between Syria and South Korea. He underscored Syria’s need for the expertise of leading Korean companies in the reconstruction phase, given their advanced technical and industrial capabilities that could contribute to rebuilding infrastructure and revitalizing productive sectors.

For his part, Ambassador Jeon expressed his country’s interest in strengthening economic relations with Syria, affirming the readiness of Korean companies to explore investment opportunities and take part in development and reconstruction projects.

The meeting comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce to expand international economic cooperation. On Monday, Al-Ali met with the head of the Syrian-Turkish Business Council, Hossam Tattari, to discuss ways of enhancing trade and economic ties between Syria and Turkey.
