Daraa – SANA – Efforts are underway to rehabilitate and reopen the Old Daraa border crossing with Jordan, in a step aimed at revitalizing trade and industry, easing pressure on the Nassib crossing, and strengthening economic and humanitarian ties between the two peoples.
Head of the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nashat al-Rifai, said reopening the crossing would help stimulate local markets and facilitate the movement of travelers and goods. He confirmed that the chamber has held meetings and consultations with the Jordanian side to push the project forward.
Citizens noted that the crossing’s return to service would create new jobs, support stability, and encourage investment. Jordan’s Chamber of Commerce also stressed the importance of reopening the crossing to strengthen bilateral trade.
Located between Daraa al-Balad and Jordan’s Ramtha, the crossing is one of the oldest border points in the area and holds significant strategic importance for both the local and regional economy.
