Damascus Countryside, SANA- Director General of the Arab Center for Studies of Arid Zones and Arid Lands “ACSAD”, Dr. Nasr al-Din al-Obaid, discussed with the Director General of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), Eng. Abdul Rahim Suleiman, prospects for joint cooperation in the fields of agricultural and environmental media, and mechanisms for activating awareness on issues of food and water security, and climate change in the Arab region.
During the meeting, visions and ideas related to developing specialized media content were discussed, as well as the exchange of expertise in media coverage of scientific and environmental topics, based on ACSAD’s research expertise and accumulated knowledge in the agricultural and climate fields.
Dr. Al-Obaid stressed the importance of integrating roles between scientific research and the media, especially with regard to providing innovative solutions to environmental challenges in the Arab world, calling for the production of awareness media programs and guidance campaigns targeting farmers and those interested, to enhance community knowledge of the dangers of climate change and the importance of sustainable resource management.
For his part, Engineer Suleiman stressed that the Arab States Broadcasting Union, affiliated with the League of Arab States, sees “ACSAD” as a major partner in confronting environmental, agricultural and water crises, pointing out the importance of transferring these experiences to the Arab public through official media platforms to enhance adaptation to accelerating climate challenges.
