Impact Makers concludes summer program in Homs with more than 500 participants

Homs, Sept. 18 (SANA) The “Impact Makers” Club concluded its summer program at the Homs Cultural Center with performances and an art exhibition showcasing skills developed by more than 500 children and young people.

The closing event featured activities in mental arithmetic, C++ programming, Scratch, robotics and Rubik’s Cube, as well as sports, reading, language, singing and choir performances.

Fadi al-Masalma, director of the Homs Directorate of Culture, told SANA that the program helped participants discover and develop their talents during the summer vacation.

Al-Masalma said the directorate plans to extend the program beyond the summer, accommodate more participants and introduce additional scientific tracks alongside literature, poetry, reading and calligraphy.

Farah Alfa, head of the directorate’s Children’s Department and director of the club, said the event marked the culmination of the educational and skills training offered to participants. She thanked families for supporting the program.

An accompanying exhibition at the Cultural Palace featured works by about 65 children and young people who attended workshops at the Sobhi Shuaib Fine Arts Center.

Mohammad Hayyan al-Kilani, director of the center, said the exhibition included drawing, Arabic calligraphy, handicrafts, clay, crochet, foam crafts and accessories. The works will be given to participants in recognition of their efforts.

Participants Rawan al-Taleb and Mohammad Nour Bakkar highlighted skills they developed in programming, C++, robotics, Scratch and Rubik’s Cube activities.

The Impact Makers Club offered eight educational and training tracks aimed at engaging children and young people in cultural, educational and skills-based activities during the summer vacation.
