Idlib, Sept. 15 (SANA) The fourth Idlib Book Fair is showcasing children’s literature through interactive stories, educational activities and creative workshops designed to encourage young readers and make books a more engaging part of children’s lives.
Children’s book publishers participating in the fair have attracted families and visitors with a variety of publications and activities that combine learning and entertainment, turning reading from a traditional pastime into an interactive experience aimed at strengthening children’s engagement with books.
The children’s sections at the fair have expanded beyond traditional book displays, offering spaces where young visitors can explore stories, take part in drawing activities and engage with educational content designed for different age groups.
Families visiting the fair said illustrated books, interactive stories and creative workshops provided an appealing alternative to screen-based entertainment, while helping children discover new ideas and develop their curiosity.
Visitors praised the diversity of children’s publications on display, including simplified educational books, historical stories, skill-building materials and visually engaging editions with illustrations suited to various age groups.
Digital tools to encourage reading
Participants said they presented interactive programs alongside printed books to help children better understand their content.
They said digital applications have become increasingly important in attracting children to reading and bridging the gap between young readers and books through stories and illustrations that reflect their everyday experiences.
Other educational approaches introduced at the fair focused on helping children develop skills in engaging with knowledge sources and understanding principles of communication, including honesty, reliability and clarity.
The Idlib Book Fair has become a cultural platform promoting children’s literature, with around 100 local and Arab publishing houses showcasing more than 100,000 titles.
The fair aims to strengthen early reading habits and build a positive relationship between children and books amid increasing competition from digital media, while offering families opportunities to explore new publications and participate in educational and artistic activities.
