Aleppo, Sept. 2 (SANA) The Azaz District Administration, in cooperation with the city’s cultural center, organized the “Details” art exhibition on Tuesday, bringing together local artists and trainees to showcase paintings, portraits and Arabic calligraphy.
The works reflected diverse styles and themes, with participants using color, painting and calligraphy to express ideas and emotions.
Painter Mohammad Ibrahim told SANA that the exhibition was his first participation in Ministry of Culture activities and said it would pave the way for upcoming painting and Arabic calligraphy courses at the cultural center. He said most of the works were by female students who had previously received painting training.
Painter Nour Hussein Nemat said the exhibition gave artists from Azaz an opportunity to present their work and connect with the public. “Every painting has a story,” she said, describing painting as a way of expressing feelings and ideas that words cannot always convey.
Arabic calligraphy trainee Lina Mohammad Ibrahim said she has practiced the art for four years. She is training in Naskh script and presented works in Thuluth at the exhibition.
Painter Maha Mohammad Abdul Karim encouraged emerging artists to continue practicing, saying painting provides a space to express different human emotions and that calligraphy combines written expression with the beauty and harmony of letters.
Visitor Ahmad Mukhtar, a Syrian expatriate from the Netherlands, praised the young artists and said the exhibition offered a cultural experience he misses while abroad. He expressed interest in purchasing some of the works as souvenirs of Syria.
Azaz has witnessed a gradual revival of cultural activity since its cultural center reopened in spring 2026, including a poetry evening in May and a lecture on youth in June, with further literary, training and youth activities being prepared.
