Iranian Embassy in Damascus holds reception ceremony on 38th anniversary of Islamic Revolution

Damascus, SANA – The Iranian Embassy in Damascus held a reception ceremony marking the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory at Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.

Speaking at the ceremony, Abdul Redha Ghassemian, the Charge d’Affaires of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus underlined the importance of the Islamic Revolution led by Imam Khomeini in strengthening the position of Iran as a key player in the region and the world.

He noted that Zionists and arrogant powers’ schemes to ignite extremism and violence in the region aimed at diverting the public opinion from the Palestinian Cause.
Ghassemian indicated that Iran has always stressed the need to unify efforts to spread peace and stability in the world, adding that respecting other states’ sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity is essential to security and stability.

He said that Iran called for reaching a political solution to the crisis in Syria that is based on intra-Syrian dialogue with the participation of all its people.
The Iranian official stated that Syria’s enemies have spared no effort to destroy the country which is one of the pillars of the Resistance in the region, pointing out that their endeavors were foiled thanks to the wise leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, the steadfastness of the Syrian people and the achievements of the Syrian army and their allies.

Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad said that the Iranian Islamic Revolution marked a major turning point in history, highly appreciating Iran’s stances to support Syria in its war on terrorism.

In a statement to journalists, Mikdad said that the Syrian government will participate in all talks to be held in Astana and Geneva to solve the crisis in the country, noting that all parties should benefit from the available opportunities within the framework of the political solution.

For his part, Information Minister Mohammad Ramez Turjman hailed Iran’s continuous support to the rights of free peoples around the world, especially the Palestinian cause and its key role in consolidating the steadfastness of the Syrian people.
