Al-Zoubi : Shifts in the region indicate that Syria’s victory is inevitable

Damascus, SANA – Caretaker Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi said that the shifts taking place in Syria, the region, and the world indicate that Syria’s victory over the aggression targeting it is inevitable and only a matter of time.

In an interview given to al-Watan newspaper which was published on Sunday, Minister al-Zoubi said that the Arab public is aware of the scale and form of the conspiracy targeting Syria and realizes full well the involvement of Israel in supporting terrorists in Syria who are its pawns that receive financial support from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and other Arab Gulf state.

Al-Zoubi said that the Israeli aggression on Gaza targets the whole concept of resistance and seeks to make people lose faith in it, noting that Israel is exploiting the current situation in the Arab region and the overt Saudi-Turkish-Qatari support for it as well as the longstanding western support, all of which provided the cover it needed to wage the aggression on the Palestinians in Gaza Strip.

He noted that despite inconvenient circumstances in some Arab countries, the Palestinian cause is still at the forefront of Syrians’ concerns, despite the facts that some Palestinian leaderships had reneged on their historic relations with Syria, as the public understands this issue and remains committed to the Palestinian cause.

Al-Zoubi said Syrian mass media managed to overcome the massive resources set against it and all attempts to obfuscate or censor it, playing a vital part in the battle against terrorism and misdirection despite the brutal media war waged on Syria, adding that Syria has a media policy committed to preserving national and pan-Arab standards.

He noted that the scale of the battle and pressure imposed on Syria forced a certain way of working in the field of mass media, such as refuting the lies spread by al-Jazeera and al-Arabiya, acknowledging that there are shortcomings in media work although it’s not intentional and is rather linked to stages during which media establishment suffered from certain failings.

Al-Zoubi pointed out that new media outlets have been employed since the beginning of the crisis, and that the mass media’s tasks have doubled due to the war on Syria while budgets were halved, prompting all people involved to exert extra efforts.

He asserted that the current Syrian mass media is a state media, not an authority media, and that it hosted opposition figures and underwent considerable advances and shifts in recent years, adding that it took considerable effort to reach this stage as this involved overcoming a mentality that had prevailed for decades.

“We, as mass media involved in the issue of conflict, confrontation, and the war on Syria, are certainly not neutral; we are part of this state and assist the Armed Forces,” al-Zoubi said.

He said that the new media project in Syria has existed for some time and has been growing slowly and gradually, but there is an issue related to lacking a mechanism for providing consistent training of qualified journalists who approach journalism as a creative career, not as a mere job.

Al-Zoubi also addressed the issue of journalists who were killed in the line of duty, asserting that there’s a committee in charge of caring for their families as well as caring for journalists injured while carrying out their duty.
