Damascus, SANA- President Bashar al-Assad issued on Wednesday Decree no. 187 for 2016 charging Imad Mohammad Deeb Khamis with forming the government of the Syrian Arab Republic.
Imad Mohammad Deeb Khamis was born in Damascus Countryside in 1/8/1961. He has a degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in energy from Damascus University, in addition to acquiring certificates for several courses including middle management, disaster management, strategic management, time management, and leadership skills development. He also participated in 11 conferences abroad on energy policies.
Khamis occupied several administrative posts at Damascus Electricity General Company between 1987 and 2000, in addition to working as director of energy services at the Electricity Ministry and in the UN-sponsored energy preservation project between 2001 and 2003.
Between 2003 and 2005 he worked at the Damascus Countryside Electricity General Company as Assistant Director General, and from 2005 to 2008 he became its Director General, and then became Director General of the General Establishment for Electric Power Distribution and Investment between 2008 and 2011. He occupied the post of Electricity Minister since 2011.
Khamis has been a member in al-Baath Arab Socialist Party since 1977 and a member of the Party’s Regional Leadership since 2013, in addition to being a member in the Engineers Syndicate.
He is married with three children.
