A “Flydubai” flight crashes in southern Russia, 62 people on board killed

Moscow, SANA- A Flydubai Boeing-737 crashed Saturday while landing in the southern Russian city of Rostov; all 62 passengers and crew on board were killed.

“FlyDubai was flying from Dubai to Rostov with 62 people on board including 7 crew members; Russia today reported citing emergency agencies at Rostov.

Meanwhile, Russian Emergency Ministry indicated that the plane smashed into pieces at the runway and was set on fire which was extinguished, saying that some 700 people and 90 evacuation and emergency vehicles from Rostov area are working on the crash site.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed condolences to the relatives and loved ones of the crashed Boeing.

“The Russian president feels deeply for all those who lost their loved ones in the Boeing 737 crash in Rostov-on-Don,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced, stressing that the president has made it a priority to provide all possible assistance to the relatives of the victims.

A criminal case has been opened into the crash that will examine a possible “violation of traffic safety rules,” Prosecutor General’s office has announced, RT said.
