Some 1600 tons of Syrian agricultural products shipped to Russia-VIDEO

Lattakia, SANA – Loaded with 1600 tons of Syrian agricultural products, the first direct shipment departed from Lattakia Port bound to Russia, within the framework of the Russian Village for exports and imports efforts to promote exports movement between the two countries.

Director of the Russian Village for exports and imports on the Syrian side, Khaldoun Mazhar Ahmad, said in a statement to SANA Sunday that the shipment includes citrus, pomegranate, carrots and cauliflower from Lattakia, Tartous, Daraa and Sweida.

On December 9th, 2015, the Russian Village for exports and imports was opened with the aim of boosting the Syrian-Russian economic cooperation and trade as well as improving Syrian exports, especially agricultural products, and enhancing their competitiveness in global markets in general, and the Russian market in particular.

He noted that another shipment will be sent after 15 days and it is intended to include double amounts with the aim of intensifying exports movement to become one shipment a week.

Ahmad said that the shipment will arrive at the Russian ports within five days while previous trips used to take 15 days, adding that early arrival time will contribute to the speed in introducing products into the Russian market and their consumption.
