Damascus, SANA – The first conference for banking and insurance concluded its activities on Thursday in Damascus, affirming the important role of insurance companies in the reconstruction process in Syria and calling for enhancing cooperation with media outlets to launch an awareness-raising campaign about the need for insurance companies.
In turn, Secretary General of the Syrian Union of Insurance Companies Samer al-Ish said that the global reinsurance companies’ boycott of the Syrian insurance companies since the start of the crisis in the country has harmed national economy.
He added the insurance sector in Syria has begun to recover despite of the continued boycott.
For his part, Ahmad Khalil, an official at the General Commission for Employment and Development Projects, said that the commission is working to enable job seekers to integrate into the labor market and support entrepreneurs to set up their own businesses and disseminate the entrepreneurial culture.
Chief Executive Officer of the Distinctive Services Company highlighted the positive role of management companies in the continuity of the health insurance system in the light of the current challenges, stressing that the management companies have contributed to easing the burdens of government hospitals through contracting with private hospitals.
The first conference for banking and insurance kicked off on Wednesday in Damascus to discuss the role of insurance companies and banks as part of the national economy under the current crisis.
