Delegation from Defending Syria Association presents reviews of potential reconstruction projects

Damascus, SANA – Head of the Syrian Investment Agency Hala Ghazal discussed on Tuesday with a delegation from the Defending Syria Association in Sweden headed by George Maqdisi Elias a number of suggestions and projects to be established in Syria in the current stage and in the post-crisis reconstruction stage.

Ghazal said the investment priorities have changed due to the current crisis in the country, with the new priorities are focused on meeting the citizens’ needs of food and energy, in addition to securing the reconstruction and building requirements.

In turn, Ulf Sandmark, a member of the visiting delegation, presented a document of the reconstruction project in Syria that includes a number of key tracks setting the main priorities.

Those priorities included rebuilding the infrastructure, key industries and new technology opportunities, in addition to making use of the new Silk Road in Syria. Ways of financing these projects were also drafted in the document.

Others members of the delegation presented reviews of potential projects they intend to carry out in contribution to the reconstruction process in Syria, with those projects focusing on power, water purification and recycling of waste and debris to be used in the production of building materials.

The members expressed their desire to find local partners to set up these projects.

Defending Syria Association was founded in Sweden in 2012. It works on providing humanitarian and financial assistance to the homeland and helping Syrian expatriates and businessmen engage in supporting the Syrian people and contributing to the reconstruction process.

Later, the delegation met with Grand Mufti of the Republic Ahmad Badr-Eddin Hassoun and the Patriarchal Associate of Antioch and All the East for the Greek Orthodox church Bishop Luke Khoury.
