People’s Assembly rises retirement age for pilots to 65

Damascus, SANA – People’s Assembly adopted on Thursday, in a session head by Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, a law stipulates for rising pilots’ retirement age to 65 instead of 60 .

Minister of Transportation Ghazwan Kher Bek said the new law aims at taking advantage of the pilots’ expertise.

He stressed that private airliners are benefitting from retired pilots through employing them for five years, adding that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) itself, which is affiliated to the United Nations, had amended its laws regarding the age of retirement.
