Russian air force makes 36 sorties, hits 49 ISIS targets

Moscow, SANA-The Russian Aerospace Force has conducted 36 sorties over the past 24 hours, hitting 49 ISIs targets in the Syrian provinces of Hama, Idlib, Latakia, Damascus, Aleppo, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday. As a result, 11 ISIS command and operation centers have been destroyed.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman Igor Konashenkov, on October 16 the Russian aviation launched strikes on underground hideouts, operation centers, home-made weapon production plants, firing positions, artillery, munition warehouses, ammunition and material supplies of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

A factory for explosives, 3 firing positions, 15 field camps and terrorist bases, two military equipment bases, nine munition warehouses and eight fortified regions and defense positions have been destroyed.

He added that a Su-24M bomber hit a single building with a training base of terrorists near Salma in Lattakia province. According to the reconnaissance data, in the building, foreign instructors prepared ISIS militants for sabotage acts as well as suicide bombers.

A large terrorist ammunitions depot was eliminated, the military spokesman said. Three heavy trucks were also destroyed at the sight.

“In the suburbs of Damascus, Su-24M aircraft destroyed two ammunition depots and a workshop manufacturing improvised explosive devices for the ISIS terrorists. Precision strikes completely destroyed the targets,” he added.

He added that near Khan Al-Asal in Aleppo province, Su-25 attack aircraft hit a terrorists’ base, destroying terrorist shelters as well as concentration of tanks and armored vehicles. According to the objective monitoring data, two tanks and five infantry fighting vehicles of the ISIS militants were destroyed.
