Book exhibition on World Book Day in Damascus

Damascus, SANA- A book exhibition was opened at Abu Rumaneh Cultural Center on the occasion of World Book Day.

The most important publishing houses in addition to the publications of the Ministry of Culture and Arab Writers Union took part in the exhibition.

“The book is the finest way to attain knowledge because it contributes to creating a mindful and conscious community,” Minister of Culture Issam Khalil said, adding that the Ministry ‘s publications shed light on the causes of the plots hatched against Syria.

He noted that his ministry has published a lot of translated written works, highlighting the importance of going on translating and publishing the books which uncover or face the conspiracies against Syria in our community and the other communities.

For his part, the Director General of the Syrian Book Authority, Jihad Bakfalouni considered the exhibition as an opportunity to highlight the importance of the book and the high need to knowledge.

The General Supervisor of the exhibition, Ali Al-Qayem hailed the exhibition, asserting that the Syrian publications and innovation will continue in spite of the crisis imposed on the cultural field through burning and destroying a lot of publishing houses by the terrorist organizations.
