Russia announces deployment of S-400 air defense systems in Belarus

Moscow, SANA- The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the deployment of air defense systems (S-400) in Belarus as part of joint exercises that include a reaction test for the forces of an allied country.

The ministry said in a statement that the (S-400) air defense systems of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Eastern Military District will assume combat air defense tasks as part of the Unified Regional Air Defense System of Belarus and Russia.

The maneuvers will take place in two phases. The first will continue until February 9th, and will include redeployment on the territory of Belarus, protecting and defending important government and military facilities, protecting state borders, organizing airspace, and testing the readiness and ability of the forces and air defense alternate means to perform the tasks of covering important places.

The second phase of the maneuvers from February 10-20 under the title (Allied Resolve 2022) includes repelling external aggression, combating terrorism, protecting the interests of the Union State between Russia and Belarus, and strengthening border protection to prevent the penetration of armed groups.

The second phase also includes closing channels for the delivery of weapons and ammunition, and searching for illegal armed formations, and enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups and repelling and destroying them.
