Cold weather prevails, rains and snow over most regions

Damascus, SANA- Temperatures continue to drop as the country is affected by a superficial low air pressure accompanied by western air currents and cold and wet polar air mass in the upper layers of the atmosphere.

Cold weather continues to prevail in the country, with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies, Meteorology Department said in its Tuesday bulletin.

The bulletin added that a little chance for rain showers is expected over the northwestern and coastal region regions, while heavy rain accompanied by thunder covering most of the regions during the evening hours, and snow in the mountains above 1100m, warning against frost and ice during early morning.

The wind will be southwesterly with a moderate speed and active gusts whose speed exceeds 85km/h in the coastal region, while the sea waves will be medium to high in amplitude.

The expected temperatures in some major Syrian cities will be as follows: Damascus 10/-2, Daraa 10/-1, Homs10/-4, Hasaka 9/0, Tartous 15/6, Aleppo 10/0, Deir Ezzor 16/5
