Homs, SANA- Prime Minister Eng. Hussein Arnous put on Monday the projects of al-Baath University Hospital and the channel which draws water from al-Daba’a area to Homs City into service, while chairing a governmental delegation on a tour of the service and developmental projects in the province.

Rector of al-Baath University Abdul Basit al-Khatib told SANA reporter that the hospital includes five floors with a total floor area of 13000 square meters with a capacity of 300 beds.

Eng. Hassan Humaidan, Director General of the General Establishment for Drinking Water and Sewage in Homs, said in a statement to SANA, that the project of drawing water from al-Daba’a area towards Homs City is part of the upper Orontes project to feed Homs city, adding that the density of the channel is about two cubic meters per second.

He added that the channel is an alternative to the old channel, which is more than fifty years old, and putting it into service comes to reduce the percentage of waste from the old channel, and this will positively affect feeding a number of areas, noting that the length of the new channel is 24 km and it is made of reinforced concrete.

The Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Eng. Hussein Makhlouf, and Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Tammam Raad are participating in the tour.
