Damascus, SANA- The office of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Damascus on Wednesday received personal protection equipment for confronting coronavirus offered by China.
The protective equipment included 104 thousand surgical face masks ,20700 face masks ,50 thousand sterilised surgical gloves,7400 medical eye protective goggles and 20 thousand medical protective suits to support UNRWA efforts in protecting Palestinian refugees who receive medical services at its facilities, in addition to its employees operating in the medical centers.
In a speech after signing aid delivering documents, Chinese Ambassador in Damascus, Feng Biao, stressed China’s consistent support for the efforts of Palestine and the Arab countries to combat the corona epidemic, and its strong support for the UN agencies, referring that China donated medical aid to the Palestinians in Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan and other states via UNRWA.
“China have also sent medical cadres to Palestine which helped contain the epidemic there”, the Ambassador said, referring that his country has always supported the just Palestinian People’s cause to restore their legitimate right along with the efforts to find a solution to it.
For his part, Director of UNRWA Affairs in the Syria, Amanya Michael Ebye, expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Chinese state for their continuous support to the Agency aimed at preventing the spread of the epidemic, referring that UNRWA amended its work way to ensure providing Palestinians with all its services in a safe way and without suspension and in a manner consistent with the directions of the Health Ministry and the World Health Organization (WHO).
