Music is Life: 14th International Cartoon Exhibition at Dar Al Assad

Damascus, SANA – Sixty-one cartoons from various countries of the world were hosted by the exhibition hall of the Opera House at Al-Assad House for Culture and Arts on Monday.

The cartoons featured in the 14th International Cartoon Exhibition of 2018 titled “Music is Life,” were selected from 1200 works by 400 artists of 72 countries.

A short documentary was presented on the sidelines of the exhibition about importance of music in the lives of the people which is directed and screen played by Raed Khalil.

The first prize was awarded to Arash Frogi from Iran, the second prize was awarded to Vladimir Semirinko from Russia and the third one was awarded to Mowaffak Farzat from Kuwait, in addition to nine special prizes were awarded to Syria, Peru, Bahrain, Greece, China, Russia, Iran, Italy and Bulgaria.

Director of the competition, Raed Khalil, told SANA, “The annually-held exhibition, under different themes, aims to attract the international cartoonists.

Music is our theme for the exhibition this year to reflect its importance on peoples’ lives.”

He also pointed out to the need for spreading music in the Arab world in all fields, especially the art of caricature and cartoons.
