Social Affairs Minister: Government committed to providing citizens’ needs

Damascus, SANA –Minister of Social Affairs in the caretaker government, Kinda al-Shammat, stressed on Sunday that the government is committed to provide the basic needs, including food and medicine, to the citizens who are affected by the acts of the armed terrorist groups.

During the Higher Relief Committee’s meeting, al-Shammat pointed out to the efforts exerted to deliver humanitarian aid to the affected families in Daraa countryside, asserting the necessity of enhancing readiness to ensure the continuation of offering support to deliver aid to the residents of al-Yarmouk Camp.

The minister added that the international laws affirmed respecting the national sovereignty and the major role of the state in supervising the operations of humanitarian aid distribution according to the principles of neutrality and un-politicization of the issue of humanitarian aid.

For his part, Director of the Organizations Department at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry, Dr. Milad Atbeh, pointed out that the Syrian government will spare no effort to deliver humanitarian aid in cooperation with the international organizations, while some UN sides are trying to show Syria as not cooperating in this domain to justify delivering aid through illegal crossings.
