Occupied Jerusalem, SANA –Lawyer Saeed Nafaa, Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Movement and member of the Popular Committee for Solidarity with Syria, was sentenced to one-and-a-half-year in prison on charges of making contacts with Syria and visiting “an enemy country”, according to the Israeli court’s claims.
The Israeli procedure came as part of the occupation authorities’ intimidation policies against national Palestinian figures living in the 1948 occupied territories.
In a statement to the Agence France-Presse (AFP), Nafaa said that he was sentenced to one year in jail for visiting Syria and a half year for meeting Talal Naji, deputy secretary-general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine -General Command, adding that he will appeal the ruling.
In September 2007, the occupation authorities charged lawyer Nafaa with joining other 282 Palestinian clergymen and figures with visiting Syria via Jordan, and making calls with the Syrian Embassy in Jordan to obtain entry permissions to Syria.
