Emergency minister discusses coordinated efforts to ensure dignified return of displaced persons

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed al-Saleh,and a delegation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), headed by Mohamed Abd Yakeer, discussed ways to unify efforts to ensure a permanent and dignified return for displaced persons. The talks addressed ongoing challenges such as debris and the dangers of war remnants that continue to hinder stability and force some people to flee again.

During the meeting held at the Ministry headquarters Monday, Minister al-Saleh highlighted the extensive challenges facing the country and outlined the government’s efforts to end the suffering of long-term camp residents by working to provide them with a safe and dignified life.

He expressed his gratitude to the IOM for its support of the displacement tracking system and its understanding of the Ministry’s priorities during this sensitive period. Al-Saleh also emphasized that the Ministry’s current work seeks to redefine the role of the state, based on the right to safety and a dignified life, by placing human well-being at the center of policies and planning.
