Islamabad, July 13 (SANA) Syrian Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Kabawat met on Monday with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja in Islamabad to discuss bilateral cooperation and benefit from Pakistani expertise in providing support, training programs and specialized courses in digital transformation and information technology, the ministry said.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 9th Ministerial Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Women in the Pakistani capital, discussed arrangements for Syria’s participation in an integrated digital transformation software platform launched by Pakistan to develop digital skills in qualifying youth, particularly women, and empower them to keep pace with the demands of the modern digital economy and enter labor markets with efficiency and capability, according to a statement.
OIC Women’s Ministerial Conference
The two-day conference, which opened Sunday in Islamabad, brought together approximately 190 delegates, including ministers, senior government officials and representatives from the OIC’s 57 member states, to discuss ways to enhance women’s social, economic and political participation and strengthen cooperation among member countries.
Held under the theme “The Social, Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in OIC Countries: Challenges and the Way Forward,” the conference focused on expanding women’s access to education, healthcare, employment, entrepreneurship, financial services, technology and digital opportunities.
Pakistan formally assumed the chairmanship of the OIC Ministerial Conference on Women from Egypt for the next two years during the conference. The conference is expected to conclude with the adoption of the “Islamabad Declaration,” reflecting the collective commitment of OIC member states to advancing women’s rights and opportunities.
