Ankara, June 30 (SANA) Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş said Tuesday that Israel’s attacks on Syria and Lebanon constitute clear violations of international law, according to remarks carried by Anadolu Agency.
Speaking at a joint press conference with his Norwegian counterpart Masud Gharahkhani in Ankara, Kurtulmuş said that “halting Israel’s aggressive policies is an essential condition for achieving peace in the region,” stressing that the Middle East is in urgent need of calm and stability.
On Sunday, Israeli occupation forces entered the village of Abidin in the western Daraa countryside, targeting the village and its surroundings with helicopter machine-gun fire and artillery shells, causing some residents to flee their homes toward neighboring villages.
Support for US-Iran talks
Regarding the US-Iran negotiations, Kurtulmuş expressed Türkiye’s support for the talks and his hope that the discussions, which began in Geneva and will continue in Doha, would yield positive results, according to Anadolu Agency.
Kurtulmuş said Israel is “clearly disturbed” by the US-Iran negotiation track and that it is necessary to prevent any provocations that could derail this diplomatic path.
On June 18, Tehran and Washington reached a memorandum of understanding providing for a cessation of hostilities, the lifting of the US naval blockade on Iran, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which had been closed for over three months, disrupting global oil and gas supplies.
