Damascus, June 9 (SANA) The Syrian Civil Defense said Tuesday that two people were killed and 25 others injured across Syria over the past 24 hours in fires and traffic accidents, as emergency teams responded to incidents nationwide.
Civil Defense teams responded to 20 traffic accidents that left two people dead and 22 others injured. Victims received first aid before being transferred to hospitals, while accident sites were cleared and secured.
Teams also responded to 183 fires, including 48 in agricultural fields and crops and 135 in homes, shops, vegetation, waste sites, trees and electrical wiring. The incidents resulted in three injuries, including two firefighters, who were taken to hospital for treatment. Other incidents caused material damage only.
Authorities urged drivers to reduce speed, ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and avoid distractions such as mobile phone use. They also warned against starting fires in agricultural and forested areas, discarding cigarette butts or glass along roadsides, and burning dry weeds near homes or fields.
The latest figures follow a similarly busy period two days earlier, when 14 people were injured in 204 fires and traffic accidents across Syria.
