Damascus, Apr. 23 (SANA) The Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport announced on Wednesday that Qatar Airways will resume flights from Doha and Saudi carrier Flynas will restart services from Jeddah to Damascus International Airport beginning May 1, 2026.
Mustafa Khairallah, head of the authority’s media office, said in a statement to SANA that the move represents a significant step toward restoring aviation activity and strengthening regional connectivity.
He added that the resumption of flights is expected to facilitate passenger movement and support the recovery of air transport, as part of a gradual return to operations at Damascus International Airport amid improving security conditions in the region.
Earlier this month, the head of the authority, Omar al-Hosari, announced the reopening of all previously closed air corridors and the resumption of air traffic through Syrian airspace.
He also confirmed the restart of operations at Damascus International Airport, with flight activity returning to regular levels.
