Damascus, April 16 (SANA) A workshop organized by the National Mine Action Center at the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, in cooperation with the Geneva-based International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), concluded in Damascus with calls to strengthen national capabilities and improve preparedness for a range of risks.
Participants at the workshop, held under the theme “Stakeholders on Syrian National Strategy for Mine Action,” highlighted the need for proactive planning, early warning systems, and capacity building, along with stronger partnerships to address natural disasters and the impacts of war, including damage to infrastructure.
The workshop, which began Tuesday, reviewed the current situation of mine action and explosive-related activities in Syria.
Earlier, on January 11, the National Mine Action Center organized a national workshop titled “A Step Towards Safety” to raise awareness about the dangers of unexploded ordnance and support affected communities.
