Riyadh, April 10 (SANA)— Syria and Saudi Arabia held talks in Riyadh on strengthening cooperation in disaster management and civil defense, with a focus on improving emergency response capabilities and preparedness.
Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed al-Saleh met with Director-General of the Saudi Civil Defense, Major General Hamoud bin Suleiman Al-Faraj, to discuss expanding coordination and exchanging expertise in civil protection and disaster response.
The two sides reviewed mechanisms to enhance response capacity and raise readiness levels in dealing with emergencies, aiming to better protect lives and property.
During his visit, al-Saleh toured the Unified Security Operations Center (911) in Riyadh, where he was briefed on its system for receiving emergency calls and coordinating rapid response among relevant security and service agencies.
He also visited the Saudi Civil Defense Institute, where he reviewed training and qualification programs designed to prepare specialized personnel in civil protection and emergency response fields.
