Damascus, April 3 (SANA) Syria’s Planning and Statistics Authority and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and review ongoing aid programs during a meeting in Damascus.
The talks, held at the Authority’s headquarters, brought together the authority’s head, Anas Salim, and UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Regional Director Abdallah al-Dardari, according to a statement published on the Authority’s Telegram channel.
Both sides reviewed progress in previous assistance programs and assessed a joint work plan aimed at enhancing development cooperation.
UNDP, the United Nations’ global development agency, operates in around 170 countries to reduce poverty, address inequality, and support sustainable development, including through policy advice and capacity building.
UNDP Administrator Alexander De Croo said on Thursday in a post on X that post-war Syria could become a “success story” if the international community increases support. He called for greater investment in rebuilding essential services, including hospitals and schools, and enabling displaced Syrians to return home safely.
