Damascus, March 19 (SANA) The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced Thursday that border guard forces in the Jurud Falita area west of Damascus thwarted an arms smuggling attempt along the Syrian-Lebanese border through a precisely executed ambush.
The ministry’s Media and Communication Directorate said the operation resulted in the arrest of four individuals, including two Lebanese nationals, and the seizure of various weapons and ammunition. The arrested individuals were referred to the competent authorities for legal action.
Syrian border forces continue to secure borders, combat armed groups, intercept smuggling of weapons and drugs, and monitor any illegal activity exploiting security conditions in certain border areas. They also maintain surveillance to detect activities that could pose a security threat.
