Syrian Civil Defense recovers remains of five people in eastern Aleppo countryside

Aleppo, March 12 (SANA) Syrian Civil Defense teams have recovered the remains of at least five people in the village of al-Qashla near Manbij in eastern Aleppo province, the organization said Thursday.

Specialized search teams responding to a report on Monday located the human remains during a mission conducted in coordination with the National Authority for the Missing, according to a statement posted on the Civil Defense’s Telegram channel.

The group said its teams headed to the site alongside the Public Prosecution and security authorities, where an official investigation was opened and the recovery operation was supervised.

Before the search began, war-remnants clearance teams from the National Mine Action Center, part of the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, surveyed the area to ensure there were no landmines or unexploded ordnance.

The Civil Defense said the remains were scattered on open ground near a house and are believed to belong to at least five individuals. Teams documented and collected the remains according to established procedures before transferring them to the relevant authorities for further examination and identification.

The organization urged residents not to approach or tamper with sites containing human remains or suspected mass graves and to report any discoveries to Civil Defense centers or local authorities.

Authorities have discovered several mass graves in different parts of Syria in recent months, containing the remains of people who died due to practices of the deposed regime. The most recent discovery was in the Adra industrial area northeast of Damascus, where the remains of 14 people were found.
