Deir Ezzor, Feb. 2 (SANA) Syria’s General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport is working to rehabilitate Deir Ezzor Civil Airport as part of a broader plan to resume operations after years of closure, the authority said on Sunday.
Omar Hosari, head of the authority, said technical and engineering teams are carrying out infrastructure and operational rehabilitation work at the airport aimed at restoring air connectivity to Deir Ezzor province and easing travel for residents.
In a post on the X platform, Hosari said the project reflects efforts to reconnect Deir Ezzor with Syrian airspace in line with operational requirements for the province.
Deputy Chairman Amjad Nakkhal conducted a field inspection of the airport, reviewing progress on rehabilitation work covering infrastructure and operational facilities, according to the authority.
The authority said the rehabilitation includes upgrading basic infrastructure and service facilities in accordance with approved civil aviation standards, with the aim of ensuring safety and operational efficiency ahead of a planned reopening to air traffic.
