Syrian-American “SYNC’25 II” conference kicks off

Syrian-American “SYNC’25 II” conference kicks off

Damascus, SANA-The Syrian-American “SYNC’25 II” conference to promote the technology industry kicked off Friday in Damascus.

Syrian-American entrepreneurs and engineers from Silicon Valley (a region in Northern California, USA, which is a global center for high technology and innovation) organized the event, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT).

Minister of (MCIT), Abdul Salam Haykal, highlighted in his speech, that Syria’s openness to the world is driven by strengthening regional and international partnerships, with a strong appetite for presenting agreements and partnerships in the technology sector.

The two-day conference, themed “Let’s Tech It Out”,” aims to connect Syrian professionals with the latest technological developments, that have been largely unavailable in recent years, and to foster knowledge exchange, professional skills development, and collaboration between Syrian talent and leading experts in the global technology sector.

Minister Haykal noted that the ministry is working to build national competencies and digitally empower society to become productive as well as promote industries, innovation, and entrepreneurship, with the aim at transforming Syrian governorates into platforms for startups, to utilize the creative potential and energies of Syrian youth.

The Minister reviewed a number of projects that the Ministry is working on, some of which have already been completed and will be launched soon, such as the “Barq” project and the “Silk Link” project.

The conference was attended by Finance, Education, Health, and Culture Ministers, as well as a number of experts, academics, and specialists in the field of technology and communications, Syrian, Arab, and foreign businessmen, along with owners and representatives of start-up companies and entrepreneurs, and youth and media figures.
