Syria offers condolences to Pakistan over flood victims

Damascus, SANA – The Syrian Arab Republic has expressed its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Pakistan over the devastating floods, reaffirming its solidarity and support during this difficult humanitarian crisis.

In a statement issued Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said:

“The Syrian Arab Republic is following with deep sorrow and concern the reports of the catastrophic floods that have struck the friendly Republic of Pakistan, resulting in significant human and material losses.”

The Ministry added “We extend our sincere condolences to the government and people of friendly Pakistan and to the families of the victims. Syria reaffirms its solidarity and support for Pakistan during this challenging humanitarian ordeal, and expresses its wishes for a swift recovery for the injured and a rapid overcoming of the disaster’s aftermath.”

Since the beginning of August, Pakistan has been experiencing unprecedented flooding caused by heavy monsoon rains. The disaster has resulted in extensive human and material losses, displaced hundreds of thousands of residents, and severely damaged infrastructure across the country.
