Syrian-Turkish talks to activate trade relations

Damascus, SANA- Chairman of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, Issam al-Ghraywati, and members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors discussed with Burhan Koroglu, Chargé d’Affaires at the Turkish Embassy in Damascus, to activate the economic and trade relations on the basis of partnership and integration.

During the meeting, al-Ghraywati praised the support Turkey has provided to Syria since its liberation from the former regime, and the tireless efforts made by the Turkish government to lift European sanctions that had placed a heavy burden on the Syrian economy and the livelihoods of citizens.

He called for a new phase of bilateral cooperation based on shared interests and the deep-rooted history between the two peoples.

For his part, Koroglu affirmed the Turkish government’s commitment to opening new horizons for industrial cooperation and trade exchange between the two countries.

Koraglu called on Syrian businessmen to actively participate in Turkish economic activities, noting that the doors are open to new and diverse projects, while emphasizing the continuation of humanitarian and economic aid and support in various sectors.

The two sides discussed several proposals presented by the Chairman and members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors. The most prominent of these was facilitating visa issuance for Syrian traders to enable them to visit Turkey and participate in trade fairs and events.

They also discussed establishing a Syrian-Turkish Business Council to serve as a coordination platform for developing joint projects.

Activating the role of joint exhibitions was also discussed which would contribute to enhancing trade exchange between the two countries.
