Syria, ICRC discuss challenges facing water and electricity sectors

Syria, ICRC discuss challenges facing water and electricity sectors

Damascus, SANA-Energy Minister Mohammad al-Bashir discussed the challenges facing the water and electricity sectors in Syria with the Head of the ICRC Delegation, Stephan Sakalian.

During the meeting, Minister al-Bashir stressed the importance of cooperation with international partners and the need to enhance technical and logistical support to ensure the sustainability of basic services.

For his part, Sakalian expressed the ICRC’s appreciation for the efforts made by the Syrian government in managing these sectors, stressing the mission’s readiness to enhance cooperation to support projects to improve service efficiency.

The two sides agreed to continue coordination and joint work to ease obstacles and strengthen the resilience of host communities.
