Qatar stresses support for the Syrian people

Washington, SANA- Deputy Undersecretary for Economic Affairs at the Qatari Ministry of Finance, Saud bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, reiterated his country’s firm support stance for the Syrian people.

Al-Attiyah headed the State of Qatar’s delegation to a high-level closed-door discussion session titled “Post-War Syria,” held on the sidelines of the annual and spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, that concluded o its activities on Saturday in Washington.

Al-Attiyah affirmed that “The State of Qatar has been, and will remain, a steadfast ally of the Syrian people. We are proud to provide this package of urgent support, out of our belief in the importance of supporting the Syrian people at this critical stage, and in commitment to our humanitarian and international responsibility to support recovery and reconstruction efforts for a more stable and prosperous future.”

The session aimed to discuss the current financial challenges and opportunities in the region, and to enhance cooperation among member states, as the main topics of discussion included sustainable financing strategies, ways to stimulate economic growth, and support innovation in the areas of financial development.
