UN stresses the need to continue supporting international efforts for Syria's recovery and development

New York, SANA-United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Joyce Msuya stressed the need to continue supporting international efforts for Syria’s recovery and development.

In a briefing during a UN Security Council session on Syria Friday, Msuya highlighted the importance of continuing international efforts to support Syrians amid the political and security transformations taking place in the country, and to bolster the momentum of investment there. She noted that failure to continue these efforts would make the scale of humanitarian needs far exceed the capacity to respond to them, negatively impacting the return of displaced Syrians to their country.

Msuya also warned of the dangers posed by unexploded ordnance and explosive remnants of war in Syrian areas to people’s lives.
