Brussels, SANA- European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, called Tuesday for lifting sanctions that have been imposed on Syria since the era of the ousted regime.
“The European Union must provide more support to Syria, in cooperation with regional partners, and we are working to boost efforts in order to lift these sanctions,” Anadolu Agency quoted Kallas as saying in a statement to journalists ahead of the 9th Donor Conference on Syria to be held in Brussels today.
The European official expressed deep concern over the violent events between security forces and remnants of al-Assad regime in the Syrian coastal region.
She stressed that EU foreign ministers will discuss the latest developments taking place in Syria today.
