Syrian Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), headed by Chairman Omar Hisham al-Hussary, held talks with Jorge Vargas, Director of ICAO’s Capacity Development and Implementation Bureau, on reforming and developing Syria’s aviation sector.
Then meeting, which comes on the sidelines the ICAO general Assembly in Canada, addressed means of developing the capacity-building, technical training, regulatory support and upgrading airport and air navigation infrastructure to comply with ICAO standards.
Al-Hussary told SANA that the meeting was as a key step in implementing the memorandum of understanding signed between ICAO and Syria in February 2025.
He added that both sides showed serious desire to support Syrian aviation staff, provide technical expertise and ensure adherence to international safety and quality standards.
