Al-Buainain: Supporting Syria is Development Priority

Riyadh, SANA-Fadhel al-Buainain, a member of the Saudi Shura Council, affirmed that supporting development in Syria is a priority for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and that upcoming investments—particularly in the economy, industry, and energy sectors—represent a true foundation for a lasting strategic partnership that contributes to Syria’s stability and security, and aims to achieve mutual developmental gains.

“The presence of more than 130 Saudi investors in Damascus today clearly reflects a directive from the Kingdom’s leadership to support Syria and points to government-backed efforts reinforced by active economic initiatives from the private sector,” Al-Buainain, stated in an interview with Al Arabiya.

He indicated that investment opportunities in Syria are not only aimed at generating financial returns, but primarily seek a developmental outcome that contributes to the recovery of the Syrian economy, which will in turn reinforce regional security and stability.

The Shura Council member noted that Syria is entering a reconstruction phase, which opens wide opportunities for significant investments in the construction sector, alongside the tourism sector—which could boost economic growth by attracting capital that helps develop infrastructure and revive affected areas.
