Cairo, Aug. 5 (SANA) Syrian national chess team player Fawwaz Akili won the silver medal on Tuesday in the Arab Youth and Junior Chess Championship held in Egypt.
Akili secured second place in the individual classical chess competition on the final day of the tournament, adding a second medal to Syria’s tally.
Syria’s first medal at the championship came through Saad Taloustan, who won bronze in the blitz chess competition.
The tournament featured 350 male and female players representing 16 countries. Egypt finished the competition in first place.
