New York, July 20 (SANA) Spain’s World Cup triumph was capped by a clean sweep of the tournament’s top individual awards, with midfielder Rodri, goalkeeper Unai Simón and defender Pau Cubarsí receiving FIFA honors following their country’s victory in the 2026 final.
FIFA named Spain captain and Manchester City midfielder Rodri the recipient of the Golden Ball, awarded to the tournament’s best player after he played every minute of Spain’s title-winning campaign.
The 29-year-old featured in all eight of Spain’s matches, completing 803 passes with a 94% accuracy rate and making 16 successful defensive interventions in midfield.
Spain goalkeeper Unai Simón won the Golden Glove after conceding just one goal throughout the tournament, while Pau Cubarsí, the 19-year-old Barcelona defender, was named Best Young Player following a series of standout performances.
France captain Kylian Mbappé claimed the Golden Boot after finishing as the tournament’s leading scorer with 10 goals, helping France reach the semi-finals.
Spain secured the 2026 FIFA World Cup title after defeating Argentina in Sunday’s final, completing a tournament in which the European champions dominated both collectively and individually.
